Easter Sunday

Readings from Scripture (lectionary) .

The Easter Sunday service, including the sermon is in three parts - my cell phone ended one recording and started another twice, and the second time it left out the first half of Candace’s stirring postlude. You can watch all three in order, one automatically following another, by playing this YouTube playlist: St. Luke's Easter Sunday Service, April 17, 2022. But here is the first part of the service, which is the majority of the service and includes the sermon:

And here is the sermon alone, titled The Divine Lifecycle, preached by The Rev. Gayle Browne:

Audio of the sermon.

Tuesday evening book study group: Black Elk Speaks and Cherokee History, Myths, and Sacred Formulas, led by the Rev. Ron Morton. If you would like to participate, email Ron at rondmorton@gmail.com for details.

Special event at St. James Episcopal Church on Saturday April 23 at 2:00 pm - (from Helen de Haven): Workers Memorial Day Observance will be held in the garden at St. James Episcopal Church, 1101 North Broadway on Saturday, April 23rd at 2 pm. Seating is available but you may want to bring a lawn chair. In case of rain the event will be in the fellowship hall. Knoxville Workers Memorial Day Committee, Interfaith Worker Justice, Jobs with Justice of East Tennessee, and Knoxville-Oak Ridge Area Central Labor Council sponsor the annual event which will honor East Tennessee workers who died at work. Seth Black, a member of the Insulators Union who died in an accident at TVA’s Bull Run Fossil Plant, is one of the workers who will be honored. We will also hear from essential workers and their unions about how they demanded protection from Covid exposure and how we can help them fight for better health and safety. This is always a moving and impressive event. Please join us to mourn the dead and fight for the living!
